The Art of unionität

Clet Abraham

Die Straßenschilder

For those who re-examine the usual ways.

„It does not undermine the function of the sign — but its persuasive power."

At various points in the Union-Geländes, there are street signs that have lost their original authority. They are the canvas of the Italian artist Clet Abraham.

His working method is as precise as it is unconventional: Abraham paints original street signs with spray paint and stickers. With fine humor and graphic finesse, he transforms rigid traffic rules into small stories—critical commentaries on society in the universal language of pictograms.

Out of prohibitions come invitations to think.
„We do not have to accept the world around us as given.“

A Closer Look at the Work

Whether migration, individual resistance or political symbols — Abraham uses the pictogram as a carrier that he gently breaks down and recharges. It is a kind of artistic guerrilla marketing for humanity.

His paintings tear the public space out of its strict order. And remind us that in the seemingly unchanging, there is still room for freedom and for a wink of the eye.
